The first team featured on our unique Grass Roots page is Llantwit Fardre Football Club.

Llantwit Fardre was founded in 1958. The Sky Blues are an amateur football team based in Llantwit Fardre near Pontypridd in South Wales. They currently play in the South Wales Amatuer League's First Division, which is the fifth tier of the Welsh Football League system in South Wales.

Llantwit Fardre FC currently boast twelve sides from under six upwards including a womens team and two senior teams.

In 2007 Llantwit Fardre achieved their dream of promotion from the South Wales Amatuer League into the Welsh League Division Three. They achieved relative success in sustaining their Welsh League status in the following years and were unlucky not to win Division Three in 2009 after becoming the front runners in the league for the majority of the season.

In 2010 that dream came to an end when a shake up of the league set up saw eight sides relegated at the end of that season, one of them unfortunately being Llantwit Fardre.

Brothers Ian and Mark Minton came in as a management pairing and solidified the club in the following season before guiding the club to a fifth place finish in the league in 2011/2012 season.

The Sky Blues will be looking to improve on that fifth place finish in the upcoming season by going a few steps further to gain promotion once again.
