Spain

They are the reigning European Champions after breaking their duck in Austria and Switzerland 2008. If that wasn't enough then they also claimed the sports biggest prize, the World Cup in Germany 2010 to cement their place as the number one ranked team by FIFA.

They are the odds on favourites with all bookmakers but is three successive tournament wins that step too much?

Spain will be without their top striker as David Villa is still recovering from the broken leg he suffered early last season but with attacking talents such as Barcelona trio Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas they have more than enough quality to make up for Villa's loss.

What will be interesting when Spain line up against Italy will be who plays in the centre forward role. Fernando Llorente is the typical foil for Spain's attacking party causing darting runs around him but Chelsea's Fernando Torres has started to show glimpses of his spell at Liverpool which convinced Chelsea to splash a British transfer record of £50m for him. If Torres can finish off his teams inevitable amounts of chances then Spain will be the team to beat this summer.

Football Always Wins says: Runners up

Germany

One thing tournament football has taught us is to never count out the Germans and we at Football Always Wins will certainly be abiding by that lesson now. Germany shone in South Africa 2010 with their youthful pass and move tactics. Just ask Fabio Cappelo and England.

Only defeated in the semi final by eventual winners Spain, Germany tore defences apart with some very outlandish football and will certainly be one of the favourites in Poland and Ukraine.

With Mario Gomez only outscored in European football by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi last season, Germany have a clinical finisher to put away the chances that Ozil, Gotze, Podolski and Muller carve out behind him.

Lets not forget, if it goes to penalties, Germany are quite good at them.

 Holland

Along with Spain and Germany, Holland are among the favourites to lift the trophy. Losing finalists to Spain in south Africa, the Dutch will be looking to go one step further this time.

Bert van amrjwik has kept the nucleus of that side together and with Robin Van Persie in such sublime form for Arsenal, this could finally be the year that Holland break that duck and win a tournament for the first time since Germany 1988.

Football Always Wins says: Strong chance

France

The French are this years outside tip for many and with good reason. Under the stewardship of Laurent blanc France have established a settled squad and look extremely more united than the abysmal showing in South Africa.

Karim benzema has been in superb form to help Real Madrid win La Liga and will be Frances’ dangerman up front while they look very steady in defence with Patrice Evra Laurent Koscielny and Philippe Mexes looking strong in warm ups.

Football Always Wins says: Strong chance

Portugal

The Portuguese could well upset the status quo in this tournament, if Cristiano Ronaldo performs like we all know he can. Ronaldo scored 60 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid last season and if he can bring that form into this tournament then the Portuguese could well have something to say about who lifts the trophy.

Football Always Wins says: Outsiders

England

What to say about Englands chances that hasn't been said before. For once there is absolutely no pressure on the English, which ironically has fans believing they can win it. England are of course without Wayne Rooney for the opening two games so if they can leave themselves with a chance of qualifying for his return then they have a real chance of advancing. Whether they get further than that will determine who they face in the quarter finals, a nice tie and England may well be licking their lips with excitement.
